The Champions League group stage continued on Wednesday, with some exciting matches and results. Here are the highlights of the night:
PSG thrashed AC Milan 3-0 at Parc des Princes
Paris Saint-Germain continued their impressive form in Group F, as they beat AC Milan 3-0 at home. The French champions dominated the game from start to finish, with goals from Kylian Mbappé, Neymar, and Angel Di Maria. PSG have now won all three of their games, scoring 10 goals and conceding none. They are six points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund, who also won on Wednesday.
Dortmund edge past Newcastle 1-0 at St James’ Park
Borussia Dortmund revived their Champions League campaign with a narrow 1-0 win at Newcastle United. The German side scored the only goal of the game in the first half, through Felix Nmecha, who turned in Nico Schlotterbeck’s cross. Newcastle, who had stunned PSG in their previous game, could not find an equalizer, despite some late pressure. Dortmund are now second in Group F, with six points, while Newcastle are third with three points.
Atletico and Celtic share four goals in Glasgow
Atletico Madrid missed a chance to take the outright lead of Group E, as they drew 2-2 at Celtic. The Spanish side took the lead twice, through Luis Suarez and Joao Felix, but Celtic fought back each time, with goals from Odsonne Edouard and Callum McGregor. The result leaves both teams on five points, level with Lazio, who beat Feyenoord 2-1 in the other game.
Manchester City cruise past Young Boys 3-1 in Bern
Manchester City maintained their perfect record in Group G, as they beat Young Boys 3-1 away. The English champions scored three goals in the first half, through Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, and Phil Foden. Young Boys pulled one back in the second half, through Christian Fassnacht, but it was too little too late. City are now top of the group with nine points, while Young Boys are bottom with zero points.
RB Leipzig beat Red Star Belgrade 3-1 in Leipzig
RB Leipzig bounced back from their defeat to Manchester City in their last game, as they beat Red Star Belgrade 3-1 at home. The German side scored two goals in the first half, through Emil Forsberg and Christopher Nkunku. Red Star reduced the gap in the second half, through Aleksandar Katai, but Leipzig sealed the win with a late goal from Dani Olmo. Leipzig are now second in Group G with six points, while Red Star are third with three points.
